  • Precautions when inflating ship launching airbags
03/30/2020

Marine ship launching airbags are an indispensable maintenance device for docks and ships. It must be inflated before use. It can bear a lot of weight. As early as thousands of years ago in ancient China, people used cylindrical wood to move heavy objects. Airbags are modern log moving tools. Depending on the amount of airbag inflated, the direction and speed of the ship's launching movement and safety will be affected. The inflation of marine airbags is different from that of ordinary balloons, and it cannot be inflated casually by feeling. Be sure to observe the pressure gauge and the hull at any time to adjust the amount of inflation. Today, I would like to introduce some basic precautions when inflating and using marine airbags. If you are interested, continue to look down.

ship launching airbag test pressure

1. The minimum working pressure of ship launching airbag is 50kpa/80kpa. This indicates that the airbag must be inflated to the lowest working pressure when using the ship rubber airbag, otherwise the ship will be at risk of damage. In the process of launching the ship, the ship will receive the support force of the ship launching airbag, the friction force of the airbag on the bottom of the ship, and the force of three different directions of the ship's gravity. The ship launching airbag inflation air pressure during use is generally about 120kpa. The shipyard can adjust the ship launching airbag inflation pressure, and then adjust the tilt angle of the ship, so that the component force of the ship's gravity is slightly greater than the friction force, which constitutes a force suitable for sliding down. So not every  ship launching airbag has the same working air pressure.

2. Don't be too anxious when inflating the ship rubber airbag, otherwise one side of the airbag may bulge up due to over-inflation without any response on the other side, which will also cause the bulging side to burst due to excessive pressure.

3. The inflating equipment should be selected according to the size of the airbag. It is best to choose an air compressor of 0.036 cubic meters per minute. The air displacement per minute is small, and the inflation time is about 5-10 minutes. In this way, the pressure can be frequently observed. The values in the table will not cause the airbag to burst due to a momentary overpressure.

High-quality ship launching airbags can have a long service life, but incorrect inflation methods are the most dangerous killer of marine rubber airbags. The correct amount of inflation will surely guarantee your boat's launching smoothly! Hope this article can be helpful to you.
